beautiful compo, though i think you could crop off some of the top and the bottom.
it's a little blurry too.. maybe a light unsharp mask?
very beautiful picture!!
11/07/05 @877

A very scenic shot. I like the composition as is, wound not crop this at all. I agree a slight sharpening might be called for but it is really not needed to make this a very good photo.
Now I have to wait another year or two for your next photo.

You arent just a one trick poney! Great photograph Brian, has real majesty about it and not just the castle, but the scenery as well! The blue boat is a nice touch!
At last!!!!

anyway, nice new shot. agreed on the fuzziness, but maybe it's not fuzzy just saturation. I love the blue boat in the composition it balances it nicely.

I don't have a direct link for it, but I'm sure eowyn does...the Robert Mekis sharpening technique...it's an ancient form of kung fu from the Robert Mekis dojo. Known to be able to sharpen any photo that crossed it's path.
Other than that

Hum for me the boat is kinda too close to the border. If just it is a little bit on the left more. Nice one Brian. And please keep on POSTING!
11/08/05 @254
Otherwise you spoted a beautiful place for a picture, well done!
11/08/05 @363
but very nice composition and colors!

Remus was kind enough to do some tweaking to the image with regard to its sharpness. I have this image on my wall at home as a 20 x 16.. it has been scanned and I tried (for the First time) to bring it into Photoshop....... lol
Anyway, Remus/Zanzibar has helped out and its appreciated, This place was posted by Remus a while back, hence my posting.............
Cheers for taking the time to post... its appreciated.

Beautiful place. i find the boat annoying but still its nice. Fine work monkeyboy.
11/08/05 @477
LOVELY PIC.
11/08/05 @479
.....I'm watching you......you watch your steps MR. Brian.....
11/08/05 @481
Seriously though, it's a good, well balanced composition Brian. I particularly like the splash of colour from the boat moored to the right (starrrrrrrboard soyde) - which completes the mood very, very nicely.
Well done!

With you permission I'd like to use your two photographs as part of my research for the photography class project.
Photograph looks very sharp so i'll have to give it 9/9
11/08/05 @490
11/08/05 @549
Great work, even if it is a bit fuzzy, as said before...
+10 Brian
11/08/05 @556
I'm sure the original hanging on your wall looks great, but this image is blurred, and has a thin white strip down the right hand side.
11/08/05 @594
I liked it how it was
after reading what everyone was saying it looked fuzzy I took it and tried sharpening it my self.
I don't think thats the answer I think if anything it needed to be lightened a tad. not sharpened
besides I like a photo UNTOUCHED I like to see what the photographer took with out any edits...
just my personal opinion and flava
no offence Remus
11/08/05 @758
nice castle good money for only £29,000
11/08/05 @852
11/08/05 @865
The origional is a 35mm c41 colour neg..........
printed to 20 x 16 sitting on the wall..
its not amazingly sharp on close inspection but in saying that its not noticable from 2 ft... lol what I am saying is you get away with it...
Now it was scanned from the print in the frame.. taken out of the frame first.. (indeed)
after that I am a bit lost.... scanned at high resulution 4800 I think into a jpeg...
So byonder what should I be doing?
I am also viewing it on a hi res widescreen at home.. (must get it calibrated) joke
11/08/05 @865
might as well use it !
I AM SHIT AT THIS PHOTOGRAPHY !
I give up !
11/08/05 @871
Oh yeah, save it as an uncompressed TIF file until you are done. Then save the final step as a jpg with a high setting like 9 or better.
11/08/05 @880
So If we assume I am using the file I have you are saying keep making it smaller and sharpen it each time??? and the file format thing.. I get that...
You didnt vote man... how am I supposed to feed my twelve red haired irish kids? or are you waiting until I sort the image out before voting??

11/08/05 @993
11/08/05 @994

The scenery is very nice though and the composition is very good.

11/09/05 @094
http://www.robertmekis.com/articles/sharpening/mekis0ta001a1a.html
So I am lost as to why its not full size... no shit !
Does it need a Border?
11/09/05 @096
I really do like it overall... +9
11/09/05 @105
Its been pushed on the saturation. Mainly as the origional has hung on the wall for over 10 years...

It is curios that after 9 years they cut the trees in the front of castle...
And the boat is gone... they have some tree stuff there where the boat can be at land.
11/09/05 @612
Zanzibar, the Boat fell apart over the years.. I went back a few years later and it was half in the water........... Progress.. lol
11/09/05 @627
really dig it

Wonderful architecture
I like this tree at the right side of the picture.
It's a pity I missed all the changes of the image..
Story said "The end of our days is coming"
I asked: "Why?"
He said : "A-h posted the second picture"
Have a good one there..

So thats where you live... Over the big three on the right!!!
Amazing...
Nice to see you posted a new artwork... Hope you do that more often!!!
About the picture... I think you could work more on colors in photoshop... To make it more vivid... But that is not your fault... Probably a camera problem... I know that because I have a problem like that... Very nice ideas and a very poor camera!!!
Maybe a framing would help to solve that issue too!!!
But anyway, a wonderful pic from a really good artist that you are!!!
Good subject, good angle, good composition and a really beautiful place!!!
What else can I say.... A big event like that deserves a +10!!
Top marks (10)
Hugs,
Victor
